After learning that decision makers were interested in creating new ministries in order to form a unity government, we used our contacts to push for the creation of the Ministry of Higher Education.
Higher education was previously under the purview of the Education Ministry and therefore didn’t receive adequate attention. Now, higher education will receive the attention it deserves.
And the move has already proven effective.
The outgoing head of Israel’s Association of University Heads (VERA) – a politicized voluntary organization that refuses to include Ariel University and worked to torpedo its establishment – admitted that he resigned as a media ploy because VERA feels threatened that it will no longer be able to carry out its politicized agenda due to the new Higher Education Ministry.
