The Arabic media went into a frenzy yesterday after Jerusalem’s chief rabbi issued an unprecedented halachic ruling, stating that the obligation for freeing imprisoned Jews also applies to Palestinian Arabs imprisoned for selling land to Jews.
The chief rabbi publicized his ruling in a letter sent personally to the head of Im Tirtzu’s Arab Affairs desk, Lt. Col. (res.) Baruch Yedid, who has been working to expose the Palestinian Authority’s illegal abductions of Israeli-Arabs who have sold land to Jews.
The story received wide coverage in the Arabic media, including the Hamas-run newspaper Al-Resalah and several other Hamas affiliated newspapers, who were “thoughtful” enough to single us out. Coming from them, we’ll take that as a compliment.
